The Croydon Concert Band is a friendly ensemble for local musicians who love to play music together.
We play music that is fun and accessible – music that allows the players to grow and to develop their technical skills in a supportive environment.
Our band is ideal for:
- beginner musicians of all ages
- young musicians
- students attending schools that do not have an ensemble-based music programme
- musicians returning to playing after a break
- experienced musicians wanting to play a new instrument
We are always keen to welcome new players, so please feel free to drop in to one of our rehearsals and see if you would like to join us. If you play any of the following instruments, you will be right at home in a concert band: flute, piccolo, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium/baritone, tuba, string/electric bass, and percussion.
The Croydon Concert Band was originally founded in 1988 as a training band for younger musicians who eventually joined the Croydon Brass Band or Croydon Wind Symphony. It has had several names over the years, including the Croydon Variety Band and Croydon Junior Band, but it has now reverted to the original title of Croydon Concert Band. In August 2018, the Croydon Concert Band received a Deakin Community Award for service to the community and for contributing to the musicianship and personal growth of its members.
The band rehearses at Brushy Creek Hall, 435 Maroondah Hwy Croydon North, on most Wednesday evenings from 6.30 pm to 7.45 pm.

Andrea Crompton was appointed Musical Director of the Croydon Concert Band in 2002. She is a talented musician who has played with the Croydon Wind Symphony since 1997.
Her love of music led her to pursue a studies in Music Therapy and she graduated with a degree with honours in that discipline from the University of Melbourne in 1999.
Andrea also runs her own music therapy consultancy.
Andrea has also been an active member of the CPP Community Theatre and took part in performances of Oliver and Bye Bye Birdie. In 2001, she was the Musical Director of CPP’s production of The Mikado and the 2004 production of Guys and Dolls.
She received a Deakin Community Award in 2018 acknowledging her work with the Croydon Concert Band and her commitment to music education in the community.
In 2026, Andrea was awarded as the Maroondah Citizen of the Year for building the Croydon Concert Band into an inclusive and supportive community of more than forty musicians.
