    Croydon Wind Symphony performed Fiesta!

    On Saturday 16 May, the Croydon Wind Symphony presented Fiesta! — a vibrant celebration of Spanish and Latin American music, song, and dance.

    Performing to an captivated audience at the Performing Arts Centre at Boronia K-12 College, the band delivered a lively and energetic program. Highlights of the afternoon included Paul’s guitar solo in Adagio from Concierto de Aranjuez, and the colourful dance performances, which added excitement and visual flair.

    On Mother’s Day, the Croydon Wind Symphony performed at the Healesville Festival 2026 Family Fun Day in Queens Park.

    The band presented a preview of music from their upcoming Fiesta! concert, alongside a few favourites for younger audience members.

    By invitation from Maroondah City Council, the Croydon Wind Symphony performed a selection of Christmas carols in Main Street, Croydon, on Saturday 20 December. Shoppers and visitors in the precinct were able to enjoy the festive music, helping to create a warm holiday atmosphere.

    The Croydon Wind Symphony with members of the Brass Band and Concert Band combined as the Maroondah Carols Band and performed at the Maroondah Carols by Candlelight celebration on the Town Park, Norton Road, Croydon oval.

    The Croydon Wind Symphony performed on the Main Stage the 2025 Maroondah Festival, held at Town Park in Croydon.

    The Maroondah Festival, held annually in central Croydon, provides an opportunity for local community groups to perform for the public. It was a fantastic opportunity for the Croydon Wind Symphony to showcase their music to people who may not usually attend their concerts. Most of the repertoire was drawn from their recent Ballads and Ballgowns concert, held the previous month.

    For anyone considering joining a community band this is a great opportunity to come down and enjoy a free show.

  • Croydon Wind Symphony hosted concert ‘Ballards and Ballgowns’

    The Croydon Wind Symphony hosted its only concert for 2025, themed Ballads and Ballgowns at the Ringwood Community Centre.

    The premise was simple: to assemble a program of memorable ballads from a variety of bands and shows, and invite the audience to sing along. For a more detailed summary, see our Previous Events page.

  • The “Croydon Wind Symphony Low Brass Quintet” competed in the Australian National Band Championships.

    The Croydon Wind Symphony Low Brass Quintet, made up of five players from the Croydon Wind Symphony competed in the Open Quintet Ensemble section of the 2025 Yamaha Australian National Band Championships, held in Melbourne.

    The music played was arrangement of Cant Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley.

    The Croydon Wind Symphony competed in the Australian National Band Championships

    For the first time in many years, the Croydon Wind Symphony competed in the Australian National Band Championships, held in Melbourne. They competed in the Open ‘B’ Grade Concert Section against several high level bands from Victoria, New South Wales and New Zealand.

    The four pieces of music played included the hymn Be Thou My Vision arranged by Travis J. Cross, test piece Under Loch and Quay by Daniel Dinh, Puszta by Jan Van der Roost and Wellington March by Wilhelm Zehle.

    After many rehearsals, Croydon Wind Symphony took to the stage at the Eldon Hogan Performing Arts Centre at Xavier College. While the competition was fierce and we did not win, the experience was valuable and it be remembered for a long time.
